Details: Heavy duty Winter Coat B-3 bomber faux shearling Style Jacket with Zip up collar. Professionally clean. Imported. Shearling jackets, originally lined with fur, are recognized for being the warmest flight jackets. Even when the fur was replaced with wool, this coat was warm enough to keep Lt. John A. Macready warm when he set a world record in April 1921, reaching an altitude of 40,000 feet in his open-cockpit airplane. Styles range from the B-3"bomber jacket", to the M-445, the U.S. Navy's shearling jacket. Also popular in the military were, and still are, synthetic jackets. These jackets first gained esteem after General Hap Arnold rejected the A-2 jacket in 1942. Styles range from the cotton twill B-series to the standardized jacket of the U.S. Navy, the CWU-series. Both synthetic and shearling jackets are worn and collected by army buffs today.

Darsen: Don't let the sad sack model in the photo fool you

Reviewed in the United States on March 9, 2016

A RARE AND JOYFUL THING, THIS BOMBER JACKET! HOOYAH HOOYAH HOOYAH!Okay, it arrived on the warmest March 9th in the history of Boston, but I do not care. I am wrapped in its luxurious sheepskin and black leather, sitting by an open window as dusk falls around me. Can a bomber jacket be considered sensual? This one is...even as the night cools down dramatically and the still-winter-whispers of a coming storm swirl just outside ...I almost wish for one last snow...almost...nawwww....only fooling. I will strip down and open all the doors and windows wide, clothed only in this jacket until summer makes me pack it away. Hell, I might turn the air conditioner on if the weather continues to heat up, just to feel this garment against my skin. It is way more lovely than the picture...the color is deepest black. The shearling lining a smoked gray cloud. Even the brass buckles and zippers are burnished bronze and just call out for adventure. It is rare that I find an item of clothing that so far exceeds expectatiions--especially at this price. Don't let the sad sack model in the photo fool you...maybe he knows that this jacket will be most appreciated by any women daring enough to wear it...especially au naturel! What a great find.Five stars and still counting!
